  Plum Island
This past weekend we visited the lovely Plum Island, off I-95 near Newburyport. We spent the majority of time scouring the beach for snail shells and other interesting sea carcasses. At one point, we came across a small grey and white bird that was scurrying at an impressive clip across the wet sand.

Curious, I chased it for a couple of yards, only to learn further down the beach that it was an endangered species, stupid human that I am! Later we went to the other end of the island, where there is a bird sanctuary. We heard the red wing blackbird sing and saw an assortment of bright yellow birds. If you ever get the chance, you must go there one day! It seems the perfect place to have a family picnic.
